Small Steps towards Big Goals

No matter how small and insignificant it may be, every little step helps in reaching at goal. Moreover, if the desired goal is big and far, the journey is often not possible without taking some small steps.

South Dublin Maktab has embarked on a journey to a goal of building a purpose-built Mosque and Community Centre. The goal is neither small nor near. Therefore, SDM is not overlooking small or big stepping stones available en-route, if stepping on them can advance its journey.

In current digital age, far-reaching power of social media cannot be denied. In fact, campaigns directed to global audience, are impossible to be launched and run successfully without using social media.

Be it the organisation's website, facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, email, etc., a successful campaign needs to have its effective representation on every digital platform.

For SDM Management, there are several tasks that can be accomplished, and are being accomplished, solely by members of the management. However, some tasks require an active participation of the whole community. It is not possible to make social media campaigns successful without an active and inclusive role played by the community members.

There is no doubt that all members of the community wish SDM a success in the Mosque and Community Centre project. However, when the same community members are asked to take small steps that would help the project, response from the community members unfortunately often remains underwhelming.

When a request is made to like a page or post, to follow an instgram or twitter, to subscribe to a channel, or any other similar request, the community’s response to the appeal is often very cold and disappointing.

It remains perplexing to understand that for a community, which desperately needs its own Mosque and Community Centre, why it is so hard to take ‘small steps’ in its journey to the desired goal. Probably a reason to this contradiction may be the fact that, we humans on Earth can only make a wish to participate in a Noble Cause, an acceptance of our wish can only be granted on Arsh (The Throne), to whoever Allah wishes.
